re: Elementary Band Co-Curricular Program

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

The Prince Albert Catholic School Division offers a band program for students from grades 5 to 8. We are aiming to resume the Elementary Band Program for the 2021-2022 school year. The Band Program will operate during the school day as a co-curricular program and will be aligned with the appropriate health and safety measures.

Registration for the program for grades 5 to 8 students will occur using this electronic registration link. We will be accepting registrations starting today and until September 3, 2021. The program will begin mid-September.

The program will begin with school division instruments such as bells and chimes, percussion instruments, guitars, ukuleles, etc. and will gradually return to wind instruments with the anticipated easing of restrictions. Students will be informed well in advance when the resumption of wind instruments will begin and instrument rental program information will be provided when applicable.

All band classes will be held at École St Anne School. Transportation to and from École St Anne School will be provided for the band program. Instrument rental or purchase will be the responsibility of the student as well as purchasing a Method Book (approx. $10).  If costs are a barrier to participation in the Band program, we have an instrument assistance program available through your child’s school.

Attached to this communication is a video created by students and staff to assist students and families in providing a glimpse of band. The teacher is Mme Manning and the program schedule will be established in the fall once registrations are complete.  Click on this link to see what students have to say about band PACSD Band Recruitment Video – YouTube. If you would like to register please use the following link to register Band Registration Form Link. We will be working with Public Health officials and using the Performing Arts Guidelines to establish safe operational procedures. Take care and God bless!

Yours truly,
