To Parents/Guardians and Students:

Re: Announcement of New Bishop

This morning, on the feast day of the Annunciation, the Holy Father named Fr. Stephen Hero as Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Prince Albert.  Bishop-elect Stephen is presently the Rector of the St. Joseph Seminary in Edmonton.  He studied theology at the Seminary of Christ the King in British Columbia, as well as at the Pontifical University in Rome.  He has been a priest for 21 years.  The plans for installation as the Bishop of Prince Albert are being planned and should occur in the upcoming months.

In addition to the joy of the announcement of a new Bishop, there is a definite need to thank Bishop Albert Thévenot.   Bishop Albert has graciously served as a priest since 1980 and has been our Bishop in the Diocese of Prince Albert for the past 13 years.   Bishop Albert has guided our school division with grace and love, and we will miss his words of wisdom and support.  We wish Bishop Albert all the best in his retirement.

On behalf of the Prince Albert Catholic School Division, we welcome Bishop-elect Stephen and offer our sincere gratitude to Bishop Albert.  Let us pray for Bishop Albert and Bishop-elect Stephen!
