Back to School 2026-27: Christ is Alive! He Hears Us

As we begin another school year in Prince Albert Catholic Schools, we warmly welcome our new and returning students, families, staff, and community partners. The start of a new year is filled with hope, opportunity, and a renewed commitment to growing together in faith, learning, and service.

As we gather for a new school year, we acknowledge that we live, learn, and work on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. We pay our respects to the First Nations and Métis ancestors of this place and reaffirm our relationship with one another. We are dedicated to ensuring that the spirit of Reconciliation and Treaty 6 is honoured and respected. This year marks the beginning of an exciting four-year spiritual journey inspired by Christus Vivit (Christ is Alive!), Pope Francis’ letter to young people and to the entire Church. His message continues to be echoed through the prayers and witness of Pope Leo, reminding us that through His life, death and resurrection, we have been blessed with the opportunity to live a life created for us through his unconditional love.

Christ is alive today and continues to walk beside us, guide us, and call each of us to live with purpose and hope. Our spiritual theme for the 2026-27 school year is: Christ Is Alive! He Hears Us.

In Christus Vivit, Pope Francis speaks directly to young people with a message of encouragement and love:

“Christ is alive and he wants you to be alive!”

He reminds us that every young person is a gift from God, created in His image and filled with God-given talents, and gifts. Young people are an important part of our world and Church today. Through their faith, spirit and gifts, they help bring Christ’s love into the world.

As a Catholic school division, we believe that education is about more than academic success. It is about helping students discover who God created them to be. Through prayer, learning, service, and authentic relationships, we strive to bring them closer to God.

Our theme, He Hears Us, reminds us that God is always present. Through prayer and reflection, we are invited to place our hopes, challenges, joys, and concerns before Him. Sometimes our prayers are answered in ways we expect; other times God’s response unfolds differently than we imagine. Yet our faith assures us that He is always listening, always loving, and always guiding us toward what is good.

Throughout this year, our schools will explore what it means to encounter the living Christ in our daily lives. Together, we will encourage one another to deepen our relationship with God and discover how His presence transforms us. We are called to be the living Body of Christ in our world, bringing His compassion and joy to others.

As we begin this new year together, may we be reminded that Christ is alive, that He hears us, and that He calls each of us to walk with Him in faith and hope.

May God bless all our students, staff, families, and communities throughout the year ahead.

Christ Is Alive! He hears us!

Le Christ vit! Il nous entend!

Please join us in prayer,

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ our living God,

We thank You for hearing us.
