Suzanne Stubbs and Maurice Chalifour for Prestigious Awards
PRINCE ALBERT – The Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Board of Education nominates Board Chair and Trustee for prestigious awards.
Annually the Saskatchewan Catholic School Board Association (SCSBA) makes a call for nominations for the prestigious Service Awards.
The Julian Paslawski Meritorious Service Award is awarded each year to those individuals who have made a significant contribution to Catholic Education in the Province of Saskatchewan. The individual must be nominated by a board member or the SCSBA Board of Directors.
At the Regular Board Meeting September 14, 2020, the PARCSSD Board of Education nominated Board Chair Suzanne Stubbs for the Julian Paslawski Meritorious Service Award.
Former graduate of St. Mary High School in Prince Albert, Suzanne Stubbs became involved in her children’s Catholic school of École Holy Cross. She was an active parent in the school community serving on fundraising committees, volunteering at school carnivals, fun days, and organizing and chaperoning school dances. Actively involved in her school community, many fellow parents encouraged her to pursue trusteeship with the Catholic School Board. Suzanne was first elected in a by-election 12 years ago and served for consecutive years ever since.
Suzanne understands the value of her faith and lives her Catholicity openly in the community. Suzanne is a shining light in her parish of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prince Albert and her lake parish of Candle Lake. Suzanne graciously shares her gift of music each Sunday and is heavily involved in the music ministry at both parishes. Her community relies on her to lead prayer through song. She is loved by many.
Suzanne’s involvement formally began with the Board of Education in 2008 as an elected trustee. Over the years, Suzanne has served on many Board committees. She has also occupied the role of Vice-Chair of the Board of Education for four years.
Suzanne served as the Chair of the Community Mobilization/HUB Prince Albert. Suzanne often explains how important education is to prevention. Suzanne works tirelessly to advocate and support our children by working to provide quality Catholic Education. She is respected by the entire community. Everyone knows Suzanne will step up when needed!
Board Chair Suzanne Stubbs reflects, “I am honored to have been nominated for this prestigious award. I have become a trustee because I have a passion for Catholic education and I want to serve students. I am proud to represent and work with the Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Board of Education.”
At the Regular Board Meeting September 14, 2020, the PARCSSD Board of Education nominated Trustee Maurice Chalifour for the Long Service Award.
The Board of Education also nominated Trustee Maurice Chalifour for the Long Service Award. He was elected in 2011 and served consecutive terms since then. The Long Service Award is awarded in recognition of long service as a trustee of a member board of the Saskatchewan Catholic School Board. Maurice Chalifour has served 9 years. During his terms, Maurice has served as a member on the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan Catholic School Board Association and has served on many school board committees such as the Audit Committee, Discipleship Committee, Staff Appreciation and Recognition Committee. Maurice is a co-founder of the Charitable Catholic Education Foundation and currently serves as a school board liaison for the Catholic Education Foundation.
Maurice is a proud member of the St. Joseph’s Parish in Prince Albert. He is Eucharistic Minister and Lay Leader at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He is a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, former Faithful Navigator and Guard Commander. Former teacher and school administrator and proud parent of two children, Maurice feels that “Education is the future of mankind.” His wide range of personal and professional experience as well as his gracious offering of volunteer services, Maurice has much to offer to the Catholic Education community. Maurice is a very active and appreciated member of the Board!
