PRESS RELEASE
Prince Albert Catholic School Division celebrates Catholic Education Week and announces Recipients of the Catholic Education Service Award for the 2023-24 School Year!

Prince Albert – May 6, 2024-  The Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division Board of Education is proud to announce the 2023-2024 Catholic Education Service Award recipients!

Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division is celebrating Catholic Education Week (May 6 to May 10, 2024), recognizing the richness and inclusivity of Catholic education. With the theme “We are Called to Love/ L’éducation catholique: Appelés à aimer. ” this annual event highlights the strength of unity in diversity within the Catholic educational community. The theme recognizes that our world is in need of love, and we are called to show our faith through our actions. We are reminded of the quote in scripture, “If we love one another, God lives in us” (1 John 4:12).

As special focus for each day celebrates the work we are called to do with each other:

Monday:              We are called to Love as people of hope / Appelés à aimer dans l’espérance
Tuesday:              We are called to Love as people of faith / Appelés à aimer dans la foi
Wednesday:       We are called to Love as people of mercy / Appelés à aimer avec compassion
Thursday:            We are called to Love as people of justice / Appelés à aimer dans la justice
Friday:                  We are called to Love as people of joy / Appelés à aimer dans la joie

Catholic Education Week is marked by special activities such as prayer, celebrations and classroom activities. On May 9 (World Catholic Education Day), Catholic Schools in the province will mark the day with a Liturgy of the Word.

Catholic Education Week serves as an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the contributions made by students, parents, teachers, and staff to the Catholic education system. It emphasizes the values, teachings, and traditions that shape students’ academic, spiritual, and personal development.

Catholic Education Week is an occasion to celebrate the achievements and successes within the Catholic education system and an opportunity to reflect on its essential role in shaping students’ lives. It is also time to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of educators and staff who are dedicated and passionate about Catholic Education. The Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division Board of Education is proud to announce the 2023-2024 Catholic Education Service Award recipients! Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Krysta Lambert and Deacon Harrold Salahub!

The Board of Education established the Catholic Education Service Award in 1998 to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to Catholic education in Prince Albert. Both recipients have been nominated due to their significant contributions to Catholic Education and their faith community. The Board is confident that you will agree that these faithful and dedicated individuals have positively impacted our Catholic Educational Community, our school division and the schools they have worked in.

  • Mrs. Krysta Lambert is currently a teacher at St Catherine Catholic School. Krysta and her family attend St. Joseph Parish, and she is an active member of the Sacramental Preparation Team. Her compassion and joy for working with students are truly gifts she shares with staff and students. Krysta holds herself to a high standard of sharing her faith with her students, families, colleagues and friends. Krysta permeates the faith in all she does. Her lessons are rich and abundant in faith-filled lessons!
  • Deacon Harrold Salahub is a teacher at Ecole St. Mary High School as well as the Catholic Education Religious Coordinator for the school division. Deacon Harrold is highly involved in many ministries and works in the Prince Albert Diocese and Ukrainian Eparchy. Deacon Harrold is very gracious in sharing his gifts of time and talents with the students, schools and parishes he serves. His love for his faith is undeniable.

Board Chair Suzanne Stubbs notes, “Our Board is truly grateful to this year’s recipients of the Prince Albert Catholic Service Awards. We are proud that Krysta and Deacon Harrold call our school division and Catholic education community home. Their involvement in our schools, parishes, and greater Catholic community is exemplary, and we are blessed to have these individuals working with our staff and students.”
