Day of Pink-February 27, 2019:  Embracing Jesus’ message of loving each other

Throughout the year, our students are guided on ways to deal with bullying.  By focusing on the message of love taught to us by Jesus, we give strategies for conflict.  Our faith helps guide us on making decisions on how to treat others.

One of the initiatives is participating in the Red Cross’ Pink Day.  During this time, we focus on PINK (behaviours that are Peaceful, Inclusive, Noble, and Kind).  Each of these characteristics were explored in a special way this week while focusing on Jesus’ example of love for us.

Here is a prayer you may wish to say as we embrace God’s love, and not bullying behaviours:

God of love,
You have created us as your sons and daughters and you call us to treat all people as brothers and sisters.

Walk with us as we wear pink shirts to show our support for people who are victims of bullying,
and give us the courage we need to always speak out against any kind of behaviours that are unkind and unjust.

Teach us to stand up for those who suffer from violent and hurtful actions and guide our hearts and our hands to make our community friendly and welcoming.

Bring your healing to those who have wounded bodies, minds and spirits
because they have been bullied or have bullied others.

May our actions this day be a reminder that we are all members of your family
that you call us to be peacemakers today and every day.

We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus, our Lord.
Amen
