January 18-25 is the time annually set out to pray for Christian Unity. Jesus prayed that his Church would be one, united in prayer.
The theme for Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2023 is, “Do good; seek justice” (Isaiah 1:17). This theme reminds us to be kind to others and the seek justice as we worship God.
This theme explains to us that we are all united in faith and that our words and actions should do good as we look after the poor and oppressed in our community. Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving and joy as we challenge ourselves to follow this theme.
In the spirit of Christian Unity, may we offer the following prayer:
Almighty and eternal God,
You Keep together those you have united.
Look kindly on all who follow Jesus your Son.
We are all consecrated to you by our common baptism;
Make us one in the fullness of faith
And keep us one in the fellowship of love.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,One God, forever and ever.
