Strategic Plan 2023-2026 and a
Collaborative Path Forward to 2030
This year, the Board of Education will focus on strategic planning to ensure transparency, accountability, and shared vision. Through collaboration and thoughtful planning, the Board will aim to build a forward-looking educational system that meets the needs of all learners.
Stakeholder input and partnerships will continue to shape the future. As we enter the final year of our Three-Year Strategic Plan (2023–2026), we take this opportunity to reflect on our progress and prepare for the future. Approved by the Board of Education on May 29, 2023, the current strategic plan has guided our division with a strong focus on our mission and vision. Now in Year Three, we continue to move forward with renewed commitment to our core priorities.
This year, our efforts are centered around five key areas. First, we continue to deepen our Faith Journey by focusing on the Five Marks of Catholic Education. Second, our Learning Journey emphasizes improving outcomes for all students through high-quality instruction and support. Third, we are strengthening Connections and Relationships by enhancing opportunities for learners to engage meaningfully within their school communities. Fourth, we are prioritizing Mental Health and Well-Being by building capacity and supports for students. Finally, we are Inspiring Success by actualizing the vision and goals outlined in the First Nation and Métis Education Framework.
Looking ahead, the Board of Education is initiating the development of a new Four-Year Strategic Plan (2026–2030) to ensure continued growth and alignment with the evolving needs of our students, staff, and community. This comprehensive plan will serve as a guiding framework for educational priorities, resource allocation, and future initiatives. The development process will begin with a thorough environmental scan, including stakeholder consultations, data analysis, and a review of current policies and performance metrics. Engaging educators, parents, students, and community partners will be essential to ensure the plan reflects diverse perspectives and fosters shared ownership.
Key strategic pillars under consideration include student achievement and well-being, equity and inclusion, staff development, infrastructure modernization, and technology integration. To support this work, a proposed timeline for stakeholder engagement has been established.
From September to October 2025, initial planning will begin with the formation of a Strategic Planning Committee composed of Senior Administration, School-based Administration, and the Admin Council. This phase will focus on developing communication materials and engagement tools, as well as analyzing current strategies, student results, and areas of success and improvement.
During November and December 2025, consultations will begin with staff through surveys and focus groups, and SCC Parent Councils will be invited to participate in facilitated discussions.
In January and February 2026, engagement will expand to include parents and students through school-based forums, online surveys, and focus group meetings. Feedback collected during this phase will be analyzed to inform the next steps.
In March 2026, input will be consolidated and used to draft strategic priorities, followed by validation sessions with SCCs and staff.
The April to May 2026 period will involve presenting the draft strategic plan to stakeholders for review and feedback, with revisions made based on input received.
The final strategic plan will be presented to the Board for approval in June 2026, and implementation will begin in September 2026, with annual progress reviews scheduled each spring.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the Board will review the process and results throughout the planning cycle.
This year’s Board working retreat will focus on strategic planning, providing a dedicated space for reflection and collaboration. Through this inclusive and thoughtful process, we aim to build a resilient and forward-looking educational system that meets the needs of all learners.
