Dear Prince Albert Catholic School Division (PARCSSD) Students, Parents/Guardians, Families and Staff,
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) has announced that the teachers will implement rotating strikes across the province. The STF announced that the next round of job action will be a one-day strike held on Friday, February 16, 2024 to include the Prince Albert Catholic School Division teachers and all Prince Albert and Area Teachers.
The Teacher Strike will occur on Friday, February 16, 2024 for our schools.
There will be no school, extracurricular or cocurricular activities that day.
The Teachers have withdrawn all professional and voluntary services for the entire day. All school-led events and other school division events are cancelled (school sports, school clubs, performing arts, meetings).
Families are only asked to make arrangements for their children for Friday, February 16, 2024.
School will resume after February break on Monday, February 26, 2024.
Rotating full-day strikes by the following local teachers’ associations will be taking place on Friday, February 16:
- Prince Albert and Area Teachers’ Association to include
- All Prince Albert Catholic School Division schools
- All Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division schools
- Light of Christ Roman Catholic Separate School Division
- Living Sky School Division
- Battlefords First Nation Joint Board of Education
- Strike action includes Conseil des écoles fransaskoises schools that fall within the above geographic boundaries, and Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre teachers who work at a school or regional campus within the above geographic boundaries
We will continue to keep parents and families apprised of events using Edsby, social media, media and posting information on our website. Our school division will strive to focus on students’ safety and minimize disruption to their learning during these unpredictable times. We respect the lawful collective bargaining rights of our Teacher STF members and the work that will be completed with the Provincial Government Trustee Bargaining Committee.
Should any changes occur regarding job action, we will communicate as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and for your support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s school or the Catholic Education Centre at 306-953-7500.
Sincerely,
L. Trumier
Director of Education
