Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2019

To begin a new year, Christians are reminded to pray for each other.  We are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe (John 17:21).  All over the world, parishes have special prayers to celebrate the week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

The theme of the week of prayer in 2019 is Justice.  We are reminded that we all have dignity as God’s children and we are to seek justice for our brothers and sisters.

The Prince Albert Catholic School Division will have intercom prayers that focus on Justice.  Each day will have a new theme.  The themes are:

Monday:          Introducing Christian Unity and the theme of Justice

Tuesday:          Justice for the marginalized

Wednesday:   Justice in our values

Thursday:        Justice for the poor

Friday:              Justice: We are moved to action

The importance of unity among Christians is emphasized during this week.  Further resources are available at www.councilofchurches.ca

Please pray in unison with Christians and with us at the Prince Albert Catholic School Division.

Here is a prayer that you may wish to pray with us:

Prayer:  Loving God, we prayers you for your loving kindness and for showing your light in times of darkness.  Transform our lives so that we may be a blessing for others.  Help us to live in unity as witnesses of your communion. Help us to work for justice.  Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
