RE: UPDATE to STF Sanctions
Dear Parents/Guardians, Students, and Staff,
Today, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) has announced:
- Additional job action for Tuesday, March 5, 2024, to include “Withdrawal of Noon Supervision” and “all Extracurricular Services “.
Here is the week at a glance for March 4 to March 8, 2024:
Schools will only be open 15 minutes before the instructional day begins and closed 15 minutes after the instructional day ends. Parents/Guardians, please ensure your child(ren) does not arrive early or remain late.
Monday, March 4, 2024 – No Sanctions noted at this time.
- All extracurricular, lunch and school times are as regularly scheduled.
- The elementary band will operate as regularly scheduled.
- High School classes scheduled outside of school hours will occur as regularly scheduled.
Tuesday, March 5, 2024 – Sanctions include Withdrawal of Noon Supervision and all Extracurricular Services.
Elementary schools:
- Alternate School Schedule* ending 20 min early. The school and bus times will be adjusted temporarily on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, and are listed on the next page.
- Students can remain at school for lunch.
- Lunch period is reduced from 50 minutes to 30 minutes.
- Non-STF staff members will provide on-site supervision.
- All extracurricular and school-led activities cancelled (before, during and after school).
- The elementary band will operate as regularly scheduled.
High School :
- Alternate School Schedule* ending 20 min early. The school and bus times will be adjusted temporarily on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, and are listed on the next page.
- Students are required to leave the school and make alternate arrangements for lunch.
- The lunch period is reduced from 60 minutes to 40 minutes.
- Non-STF Staff Members will be on-site to assist students in leaving and returning to school.
Wednesday, March 6, 2024 – Sanctions include Withdrawal of all Extracurricular Services.
- Cancellation of all school-led extracurricular events and other school division events (for example and not limited to school sports, school clubs, performing arts, meetings, graduation preparations, open houses, etc.).
- This includes cancellation of the École St. Mary Open House; however, Parents/students may contact École St Mary High School to arrange tours and request information if they are unable to attend the open house on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
- The elementary band will operate as regularly scheduled.
- High School classes scheduled outside of school hours will occur as regularly scheduled.
Thursday, March 7, 2024 – No Sanctions noted at this time.
- All extracurricular, lunch and school times are as regularly scheduled as this time. Please keep posted.
- The elementary band will operate as regularly scheduled.
- High School classes scheduled outside of school hours will occur as regularly scheduled.
- The École St Mary High School Open House on Thursday. March 7, 2024, will occur as scheduled at 7 pm until further notice. Doors open at 6:30. Parents/students may contact École St Mary High School to arrange tours and request information if they are unable to attend the open house.
Friday, March 8, 2024 – No Sanctions noted at this time.
- All extracurricular, lunch and school times are as regularly scheduled as this time. Please keep posted.
- The elementary band will operate as regularly scheduled.
- High School classes scheduled outside of school hours will occur as regularly scheduled.

The STF and the Government of Saskatchewan/Saskatchewan School Boards Association Provincial bargaining has not resulted in a new collective agreement for all teachers in Saskatchewan. The Board of Education for Prince Albert Catholic Schools hopes a fair, just, and reasonable collective agreement can be realized.
