Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you are aware, negotiations between the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) and the Government of Saskatchewan/Saskatchewan School Boards Association Provincial bargaining has not resulted in a new collective agreement for all teachers in Saskatchewan. The Board of Education for Prince Albert Catholic Schools hopes a fair, just, and reasonable collective agreement can be realized. The STF announced today the Sanction Action of Restriction of Services in the form of a one-day rotating teacher withdrawal of Lunch Period supervision for Friday, March 1st .
In light of the STF withdrawal of Lunch Period Supervision, teachers will not participate in the supervision of students at lunch on Friday, March 1st. During the removal of lunch supervision, the following will be the plan for elementary and high school students.
Elementary students:
- Can remain at school for lunch
- Lunch period is reduced from 50 minutes to 30 minutes
High School students:
- Students are required to leave the school and make alternate arrangements for lunch
- Lunch period is reduced from 60 minutes to 40 minutes
Elementary and High School student’s lunch period will be reduced by 20 minutes making the school day end 20 minutes earlier. This will not impact the instructional minutes that students receive daily. The school times will be adjusted temporarily on Friday, March 1st and are listed below.
Reminder that Supervision begins 15 minutes before the instructional day begins and ends 15 minutes after the instructional day ends. Parents/Guardians, please ensure your child does not arrive early or remain late until further notice.
The instructional hours for each of the schools is as follows:

Please note:
- School bus times will be impacted slightly due to the restrictions of supervision. The end of school day bus runs will leave 20 minutes earlier due to the reduction of the lunch period.
- Families need to contact daycare providers or before/after school daycare providers directly for information regarding operations.
- If a high school student has a regularly scheduled class that occurs outside of the hours noted above, classes will operate as regularly scheduled.
The STF will inform us of what other job action may occur due to the bargaining process. Teacher sanctions could take various forms, including but not limited to the withdrawal of supervision, half-day/full-day strikes, rotating strikes or a general strike.
Should any of these eventualities occur, the Board of Education will notify students and parents as far in advance as possible to ensure the safety and well-being of our children/youth. The media will also be informed at that time of the school division’s plans to manage the schools’ operations. In addition, we will update our school division website (www.pacsd.ca) regularly to inform parents.
If you have any questions, call (306) 953-7500 or contact our school office for school-based information.
Sincerely,
L.Trumier
