Welcome

St. Francis School is a Prekindergarten to Grade 8 school in Crescent Acres. The school was officially opened on November 30, 1987 as a Kindergarten to Grade 9 school.

Our school’s patron saint is St. Francis of Assisi, lover of all creation, champion of justice, patron saint of animals and the environment. His feast day is October 4th.

Our Patron Saint:

St. Francis was born into a rich family in 1181 in Assisi, Italy.  Francis’ father was a cloth merchant and wanted Francis to take over the business.  Instead, Francis devoted his life to God.

Francis lived a simple life who wanted everyone to know of God’s message of love.  He also spread the message that animals are God’s creatures and they deserve our respect.  Francis reminded everyone that we are all the children of God.  To further spread God’s message, Francis started a religious community called the Franciscans.

Often we hear of the Prayer of St. Francis, which is a beautiful prayer about how we should treat others.  A quote we often hear from St. Francis is “preach the gospel, and when necessary use words”.  This quote tells us that it is important for us to model our faith in our words and actions.

St. Francis’ feast day is October 4th and our school celebrates him at our assemblies and thanksgiving celebration.

Principal’s Message:

Welcome to St. Francis! As we begin another exciting year, I am thrilled to be a part of such a dedicated and passionate community. Our school is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive. We value academic excellence, character development, athletics, arts, and the importance of fostering a lifelong love of learning.

Faith is the cornerstone of our school.  Our staff, working in conjunction with the parish of St. Joseph and our St. Francis families, is committed to nurturing the whole child spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically in a respectful and caring environment. We are truly blessed to educate students in our Catholic faith and to share our faith with those around us.

We can only achieve our goals with the support of our students, parents, staff, and the broader community. Thank you for your continued partnership in making St. Francis School a wonderful place for learning and growth.

God Bless,

Mr. Darren McDougall
Principal
